I always try not to step on those kinds of things. I don’t really know what it is. Maybe it seems odd to be stepping on half metal half air, maybe it’s a slight feeling in the back of your mind that monsters will reach up and grab your ankle, or maybe it’s the noise they tend to make, like “hey everyone, this girl just stomped on this grate!”

When I was a kid, I was doing this all the time. Don’t know why, but I just liked to skip grates, lines painted on the street, anything… I guess it was fun to do that.

Because, according to my four-year-old daughter who does the same, “There are holes, daddy. You can fall through and get hurt.” Great all-around website, by the way.
