Jackie, who was taking Isuru’s place during his world travels, has joined forces with Charlene, who cooks yummy food, to create a new houshold on the Upper West Side.

House 2.02 aims for co-op living where everyone in the apartment shares
house responsibilities like washing up, taking out the garbage, etc.
It encourages casual socializing during downtime, and using networks to inspire personal or professional projects.

About the people

Charlene is 24. She went to Amherst, where she majored in English Lit and lived in a co-op her senior year. It was a crunchy, fun time. For the past three years, she’s been working as a journalist in the US and Asia. This fall, she starts an M.S. at Columbia’s j-school.

Jackie is 26. She also went to Amherst, where she majored in Math, because she hates writing papers. It’s ironic that she’s joining forces with an English Lit major. She spent the past three years working for hedge fund, but now she’s a real estate mogul (in training).

Meg, the first recruit, is 24. She’s a Princetonian who will be starting grad school at Columbia’s Architecture, Planning, and Preservation department. She claims to be the type who buys toilet paper before it runs out. Even without that being the case, she’s sweet and interesting, and we are excited she is on board.

Apartment searching has already commenced. Ideally, the place will have

  • an Upper West Side location convenient to public transit
  • 5 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • a good common space
  • accessible laundry facilities

To fill the apartment, we need roommates who:

  • pee standing up
  • want to move on July 1
  • can afford rent $1100-$1400/month + security deposits + brokers fees
  • ready to sign a one-year lease
  • petless and smokeless (chewing tobacco is okay, but you’d have to confine the spit-stuff to a jar)
  • responsible

We’ve gotten a lot of replies from women, but would prefer to live in a balanced co-ed environment, which is why we need 2 more guys. If our description appeals to you, please email Jackie housey.house@mathologic.com. Questions are welcome.
